A skateboard deck is the curved ply structure to which all other major components are attached. While providing a platform for the rider and chassis for the trucks/wheels it is the shape of this ply that reveals the true purpose/potential of the skateboard. Thus each expression or type of skateboarding has specific elements in the shape of the corresponding deck.
General Shapes/uses:
Popsicle: Street and Park skating including vert/transition skating;
Old School & Shaped: Re-issued/copied shapes from passed eras, or fun custom shapes. Also used for vert/transition skating;
Longboard: Down hill (high speed), slalom/luge & general transportation;
Cruiser: General transportation & filming rigs;
Freestyle: Specifically for flat ground tricks of the Freestyle genre.
