Paul Schmitt started Schmitt Stix which was basically a rail company to begin with. In the early 1980's rails were more for grabbing and were often made of metal and timber. These types of rails used to get thrashed on coping and became not so pleasant to grab. He later developed rails using high density plastic sheets which were more durable, slid and were not hazardous to grab.
Ps. Schmitt also started producing boards and was hired by Vision to build their new manufacturing plant. As a result he had his own board company however lost control and all assets when hard times hit the industry late 80's early 90's.
Schmitt Stix is a subsidiary of Vision and the boards all to original spec, however are not to be confused with Ps. Stix Paul Schmitt's current board company.
